我常覺得，在香港，小報不是一種類型了－－你需要有多於「一」才能將事物分類型。現在「小報」是一種型態／格調／造新聞的方式，放諸香港各報皆宜。且看以下見解：
They were less interested in imparting information than in representing shared beliefs, exploiting the ancient identity between “communication” and “community”. To cement these ties they set out to foster relationships in which authors and audiences “talked heart to heart”, united by a shared fascination with “what was ‘human,’” as defined by heroism and suffering on the one hand and exploitation and criminality on the other (Habermas 1989, p.50).
小報的焦點永遠放在人生一些必然出現的問題之上，每天所談論的其實永遠是愛、誠信、出賣、責任、死亡等。與其說小報是傳播媒體，不若說他們是禮儀（rituals）的擁護者。你且去看看今天多份報章的頭條是甚麼？愛與死亡。
香港各報章，應全部在其報名前加上「小」字，以正視聽。「蘋果小報」、「東方小報」、「星島小報」還有，「明小報」。
